Thank You

After another successful Guajome tour to Washington DC we want to thank those who made it happen, namely the group leaders - Ms Premo, Mr Duffy, & most of all Mrs Duffy.

Every year Mrs Duffy puts a lot of work into helping us plan the tour, sending information to parents, etc.  As well as spending a week of her Spring Break traveling with the students.  Thank you.

We're already looking forward to seeing the next Guajome group in March 2017!

Saturday 26th March: Mount Vernon

Our last visit was to Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington.

Although it was very busy it was a beautiful Spring day in Virginia, perfect for enjoying the grounds of the mansion.

We had time for lunch & some last souvenir shopping before heading to the airport to check-in in plenty of time for the flight home to CA.

Saturday 26th March: The College of William & Mary

We departed our overnight hotel in Williamsburg & made a stop nearby at the historic College of William & Mary to take a short walk through the grounds.

Amongst other things we learned about Thomas Jefferson being a student here, about some of the school traditions, & about the Wren Building - the original college building built in 1695 & still in use today!

Thursday 24th March: Afternoon in DC

After our morning at the Newseum we made a stop nearby for lunch, with the students able to choose from a variety of restaurants depending what they wanted.

Next we headed to the National Mall & Smithsonian museums (passing the Argentine Naval Attaché office en-route).

We split into two groups - some to visit the Air & Space Museum, others the Natural History Museum.

After regrouping we went next to the Holocaust Museum & Memorial.  Always a moving place to the visit but very worthwhile.

We stopped on the National Mall for group photos on our way to dinner, at the Hard Rock Cafe this evening.

Friday 25th March: Colonial Virginia

We split into two groups for an afternoon guided tour of Colonial Williamsburg.

Guides Sarah & Mr Jolly (really) took us to the colonial capitals jail, Capitol, & a variety of historic stores.

Thursday 24th March: The Newseum

Our morning visit today was to the Newseum, a museum dedicated to the news - what is news, how it is reported, major stories over the years, etc.  There's truly something for everyone here, from sports to the Berlin Wall, crime reporting to the Cold War or 9/11.
